Ron Springer, left, of Buddy to Buddy, chats with USMC veteran Richard Begley during the 15th Annual Capital Area Stand Down for Homeless Veterans on Wednesday at Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing. Buddy to Buddy is a volunteer program that does outreach and support for Michigan veterans. The event brings together services at a single location to provide resources for homeless veterans and those at risk of becoming homeless. More than 50 area agencies were in attendance to provide health screenings, shots, benefits enrollment, employment help, housing help and clothing. The event is put on by Volunteers of America Michigan in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

Long-serving Buddy-to-Buddy Program Volunteer Ron Springer was featured on the cover of the May 25, 2018 edition of the Lansing State Journal. The picture of Ron was taken at the 15th Annual Capital Area Stand Down for Homeless Veterans, where Ron was representing Buddy-to-Buddy and assisting fellow veterans.
