\"PhotoOur Team Leader of the Month is Nicholas Carter of Boise State University! Nicholas served in the Air Force for six years as a cryptological language analyst, digital network intelligence analyst, computer network exploitation analyst, and NCOIC of a multi-service and civilian unit. He is now studying materials science and engineering at BSU, working as an undergrad research assistant, and he expects to graduate next spring. Together with BSU\u2019s Veteran Services Coordinator, Lori Sprague, Nicholas was instrumental in bringing PAVE to his school and establishing a solid program there. Lori says, \u201cOur program would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for him,\u201d and we couldn\u2019t agree more.<\/p>\n

Nicholas says that he\u2019s loved being a Team Leader, especially those times when he or other Peer Advisors on his team have been able to identify a student vet who\u2019s struggling and then help them get back on their feet. He says he\u2019s enjoyed \u201cbringing people to together for a common cause and purpose\u201d and learning that there are so many resources and individuals available and willing to assist student vets. Although he has found recruiting new Peer Advisors challenging at times due to his busy schedule, he has helped build a great team and excelled at devising and implementing inventive ways to help raise awareness for the program at his school, including developing an online course about PAVE that all student veterans at his school take.
