Carmen is studying biology with a focus on anatomy and zoology. Once she finishes her Bachelor\u2019s degree, she plans to attend veterinary school. CSU Team Leader Laura Feger nominated Carmen, saying, \u201cShe&#8217;s on top of her logging. She&#8217;s always asking questions and reaching out for assistance when she needs it. She is the perfect example of what an advisor should be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carmen says she\u2019s been touched by the stories from some of the student veterans at CSU about the struggle they\u2019ve gone through to get the help and resources they need. She has enjoyed being able to give her time and help out where she can as a Peer Advisor. Something she\u2019s noticed when communicating with the student veterans she\u2019s assigned to is how helpful keeping an upbeat attitude is, saying, \u201cTry to maintain that happy perspective, because it\u2019s contagious.\u201d We are glad to have you with the program, Carmen!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carmen Shumate of Colorado State University is the Peer Advisor of the Month!
