April 2017 Team Leader of the Month: Dee Miller, Georgia State University

Photo of Dee MillerDee Miller is the Team Leader of the Month! We selected Dee because of her relentless enthusiasm for launching, building, and improving PAVE at Georgia State University. Prior to attending GSU, Dee served 22 years in the Army, working primarily in logistics. She then retired and worked as a project manager contractor for the Army for seven years. Dee is working on a Bachelor’s in Social Work and plans to pursue a Master’s of Social Work immediately afterward, with her focus being forensic social work. Her aim is to eventually manage veteran behavioral treatment in veteran treatment court programs.

Dee was drawn to working as a Team Leader because she thought it would be a good way to put her project management skills to use for the betterment of fellow student veterans. Between her incorporation of PAVE Fridays at Georgia State to routinely bringing the team there together and her individual follow-ups with all of her Peer Advisors, Dee makes PAVE a priority. She says she has enjoyed “being back inside the veteran environment, because veterans love veterans. We love the stories, we love to help one another. If you look like you’re lost and have on anything that looks military, we’ll find you and see how we can help.” Way to go, Dee!
