Lendon Burnett is our Peer Advisor of the Month! Lendon is double majoring in Accounting and Finance, with a minor in Criminology at University of Texas at Dallas. He served 11 years active duty in the Army as an MP and Investigator and is now a Special Agent in the Reserves. Once he completes his undergraduate degrees, he plans to attend law school. Lendon says, “There were a lot of things for me that didn’t go well when I transitioned, but having a PA helped.” He was drawn to become a Peer Advisor, work in the Military and Veteran Center, and serve as the SVO secretary because he enjoys working with other veterans and being active in student veteran life.
UT Dallas Team Leader B’Jard Jones nominated Lendon: “Lendon has made a dynamic impact on his PAVE student veterans,” adding that he’s gone out of his way to represent his PAVE team at events and is “always willing to put others before himself.” Lendon believes that, ““Any time someone around you is having trouble, it’s your job to pick them up and get them to the finish line.” One notable instance of him going above and beyond occurred when he noticed that a fellow student veteran he’d interacted with regularly stopped being as engaged and visible on campus. The student vet asked him if he knew of any counseling services, and he was able to connect them to appropriate resources on and off campus. That student vet is now on solid footing again. Way to make a difference, Lendon!
