From Carissa Bennett, Team Leader, Wayne State University: “Montrice has been an invaluable member of our WSU PAVE team for just over a year, and during that time he has played an integral role in expanding our presence and strengthening our impact on student veterans at Wayne State University. From his very first day, it was clear that he was deeply committed to serving his fellow student veterans, approaching every task with both passion and genuine care. He has consistently demonstrated a strong sense of teamwork, always stepping up to support his peers and contribute to our shared goals. What stands out most about Montrice is the positivity and energy he brings to every interaction.
Whether engaging with new student veterans, collaborating with team members, or representing our program on campus, he approaches others with a bright smile, an encouraging spirit, and a level of enthusiasm that is truly contagious. His presence uplifts those around him and exudes the welcoming and supportive culture that we strive to build within our PAVE team and our student veteran community as a whole. Because of his dedication, leadership, and optimism, Montrice has become a trusted and respected member of our team, and we are grateful for the many ways he continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of student veterans at WSU.”
From Montrice Moore: “My favorite part of being a Peer Advisor is honestly just being able to be as useful to them as possible because attending a university can be an intimidating experience for those that are not acclimated to the environment. So, to sum it up, the selfless service to those incoming to reestablish themselves in life. I try to make myself as knowledgeable as possible to respond to any questions they may ask, for example, if they were to ask who’s a good instructor is to take for statistics, I would recommend Professor Yamen. If they were to have any issues outside of what the campus has to offer, I would refer them to their local Vet Center or VA facility. Upon doing so I let them know that my contacts are always open to recommunicate to let me know if any information provided was of help to them. I am on stand-by to intake any questions, complaints, or concerns.”
