From Princess Llewellyn, Team Leader, Johnson County Community College: “He’s a grade A nomination not only for his hard work and dedication to his peers with open and clear lines of communication, but also because of the work he does on the back end, helping to organize and create events to help assist, engage, and keep peers active within the community.”
From Gerardo Ruiz, Veteran Services Coordinator, Johnson County Community College: “Anthony is a hardworking student currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with plans to transfer to MIT in the Fall of 2026. He consistently demonstrates strong leadership in his role as a Team Lader, where he takes on initiatives and key responsibilities, such as creating our newsletter, following up with Peer Advisors, assisting with training, and maintaining our resource list.
He regularly goes above what is expected of him. In addition to his role with PAVE, Anthony serves as the President of our SVA chapter and is actively involved in other clubs on campus. Continues to be a reliable resource for his peers.”
From Anthony Rima: “My favorite part about being a Team Leader is mentoring other veterans and watching them succeed. It’s fulfilling to know even small check-ins or words of encouragement can make a difference in someone’s college journey. Leading this team has reminded me of the power of community and purpose that veterans bring to campus life.
I’m proud of how our team has built a strong sense of connection and community among student veterans. From organizing outreach events to collaborating with campus partners, our team has made it easier for veterans to access resources and feel supported both academically and personally. Seeing my team members grow in confidence and leadership along the way has been incredibly rewarding.”
