From Colin Haines, Veteran Resource Center Director at WOU: “It is amazing how much easier my job is when I have outstanding Peer Advisors like Megan on the front lines putting out fires before they spread to me. The veterans she works with can tell that her concern for their success and well being is genuine, which helps encourage student veterans to approach her if they ever have an issue. Megan is also the President of our Student Veterans of America chapter, Social Media Manager in her sorority, works a part time job, and is also the reigning Western Oregon University Student Veteran of the Year; all of which sometimes makes me wonder if she’s really human.”
From Megan McAllister: “I am proud of the outreach that my PAVE team and I have been able to accomplish. As part of a new school implementing this program, I am excited to see all of the involvement we have with the students we’re advising. It is wonderful to see the new students on campus reaching out to our team and working with us to get them the information they need to be successful. I enjoy getting the chance to meet new students on our campus and help them feel welcome. I enjoy being able to talk with them and lead them to the resources they may not know are available to them.”
