Michael Welsh of Georgia State University is the Peer Advisor of the Month! He is majoring in Managerial Sciences with a focus on Human Resources, currently works part-time as an HR supervisor for UPS, and previously served in the Marines for four years. Michael has dealt with extreme challenges and overcame them, and he uses that experience to better connect with and serve the student veterans on his campus.

“I feel like I have a calling to help others and the ability to make a meaningful impact, which is why I joined PAVE,” Michael says. He has found that one of the most important qualities that Peer Advisors need is persistence, and he practices this by trying different outreach tactics, such as staffing a table at student events. Michael is pursuing a career in Human Resources and believes that his experience as a Peer Advisor will better equip him with being able to reach out and connect easily with anyone.
