Brittney Beavers is our Peer Advisor of the Month! Brittney served five years in the Army as a Human Intelligence Collector and is now working towards a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University with a concentration in Wildlife Biology and management, as well as a minor in Geographic Information Sciences. She will be graduating this month and plans to pursue a career as a wildlife biologist. MSU Team Leader Nick Service nominated Brittney, saying that she has a “bright, comforting, and kind personality that make her a great fit for a Peer Advisor” and that she consistently goes above and beyond to assist other student veterans.
Brittney learned about PAVE through her SVA chapter and was drawn to become a Peer Advisor because she wanted to make sure that incoming veterans had a smooth transition. She says she’s found her work with PAVE very rewarding and has particularly enjoyed being able to assist another veteran who’s in the same degree program as her with questions about the future of their field and how to balance his schedule. She says that she can see the difference that PAVE and MSU’s other veterans programs are having on the lives of its student vets, and that PAVE has shown her that “it’s important for other veterans to be around for support.” Way to go, Brittney!
