From the article: “It’s a peer program,” Baker-Strothkamp says. “It’s, ‘Hey, we’ve been there, we’ve done it, we understand what you’re going through.’ When you have that veteran-to-veteran connection, the fear of ‘maybe they’re not going to understand what I’m saying or what I’m trying to say’ is lowered instantly because we have this common language.”
