Daryll Mauder of the University of Akron is our Peer Advisor of the Month! Prior to his enrollment at the University of Akron, Daryll served in the United State Navy for 5 years as a Master at Arms and eventually transitioned to be a member of a combat team for his unit. Daryll is currently majoring in computer information systems but plans to change majors and focus his studies in the area of human resource management.
Daryll, who is extremely active in the veteran community both on and off campus, is known to go above and beyond to help fellow veterans in the Buckeye State. His commitment to the veteran community is evident in his actions. Daryll and his SVA chapter were able to assist a student veteran who had fallen on hard times by providing emergency funds and much needed moral support to help this student veteran get back on their feet.
Daryll’s time with PAVE has helped shape his future goals and aspirations. Having spent countless hours over the last few years conducting outreach within the veteran community, Daryll aspires to find employment with a company as a veteran recruiter and also hopes to work in the non-profit sector for an organization aimed at assisting veterans in need.
“My goal is to help as much as I can,” Daryll said. So far, he is making a significant impact on those around him. Last year Daryll was instrumental in helping raise almost $30,000, funds which helped local veterans and charities. Way to go, Daryll!
