February 2021 Peer Advisor of the Month: Dylan Putman, University of Northern Colorado

He always submits his logs on time, he is at every meeting, and most importantly he goes the extra mile for his student veterans. Recently, he assisted a student veteran with finding better time management skills in his adjustment to college life. Rather than Dylan simply walking his student through a resource, he asked his team for additional advice. He researched time management skills. Then, after deciding which courses of action would be best, he sat down with his student veteran and gave them everything he had. This significantly improved his student veteran’s position here at UNCO, and Dylan is an absolute leader. We are really lucky to have him on our team.”

From Dylan Putman: “I feel that our work as Peer Advisors make new veterans feel welcome to our school and not alone. I love being able to lend out a hand to veteran students that might be facing an overwhelming transition from military to college life. As Peer Advisors we can help with education benefit questions, time management assistance, questions about campus services, as well as just being someone who understands what a veteran student goes through. My favorite part about being a Peer Advisor is knowing that I can help veteran students have a successful college career. Additionally, I enjoy meeting other student veterans and learning more about them. Overall, I have learned a lot as a Peer Advisor and will continue to do my best to serve student veterans at UNCO.”
