Keyana Love of Georgia State University is our Team Leader of the Month! Keyana, a social work major, enlisted in the Army and proudly served at two of our nation’s most distinguished bases, Fort Hood and Fort Benning. Currently, Keyana is on track to graduate in the coming year. With plans to continue her education after graduation, Keyana hopes to one day positively impact the lives of children and young adults.
“My long-term goal is to become a licensed clinical social worker,” Keyana said. “I want to help kids, work with kids both in and out of the school system. Some kids need help communicating properly with other people and how to express their issues. I want to help them find solutions to their problems that they may not necessarily know how to handle on their own.”
Persistence in the pursuit of excellence has been the driving force behind Keyana’s success as both a student and Team Leader. By continually encouraging her team members to reach out to their student veterans, whether it be through phone calls, texts, or in-person interactions, Keyana hopes to bring every student and student veteran she encounters into the welcoming community of Georgia State University.
“She has the gift of encouragement and is always quick to recognize the efforts made by the Peer Advisors,” said Veteran Services Coordinator Randy Barrone. “Keyana helped find solutions to challenges and her contributions led to key changes that we now follow, like using VA Work Study students as Peer Advisors when possible.”
Keyana’s commitment to excellence is truly admirable. Thank you for all you do, Keyana!
