May 2017 Team Leader of the Month: Marwin Glenn, University of Maryland

Photo of Marwin Marwin Glenn is the Team Leader of the Month! Marwin served 16 years in the Marine Corps and is completing a degree in international business at University of Maryland. He will be starting a Master of Finance there in the fall. Marwin has done a great job of generating increased support for PAVE on his campus and incorporating different ideas to help connect Peer Advisors with student veterans. His enthusiasm and energy have been great for the Maryland team. He has an excellent partnership with his VSC Brian Bertges, and the two work together extremely well, which is part of the recipe for a great PAVE team. Brian tells us that Marwin was instrumental in securing a large donation made to PAVE at University of Maryland. Marwin then used some of those funds to start a “Take Your Veteran to Lunch” initiative for Peer Advisors to better connect with other student veterans, among other great projects.

Marwin explains that, while it can sometimes be challenging to juggle his Team Leader responsibilities with schoolwork and family life, he finds it rewarding to be able to give back to the veteran community by being able to help other veterans transition into college life. He thinks that his experience as a Team Leader has helped him learn how to better manage his time and appreciates the gentler approach to working with people that being an effective Team Leader requires. Thank you for your outstanding contributions, Marwin!
