October 2019 Team Leader of the Month: Rachael Burnett, University of Colorado – Denver

Photo of Rachael BurnettFrom Tiffany Baker-Strothkamp, Veteran Services Coordinator: “ Rachael Burnett has graciously accepted to stay on as a Team Leader when the incoming Team Leader had to delay his start with PAVE last minute. Rachael has recruited multiple new Peer Advisors, organized training for new Peer Advisors, and re-instated a weekly lunch held for students. Rachael graduated with her master’s degree over the summer and is now volunteering her time to keep PAVE thriving at our campus. If it was not for Rachael, we would not have a dozen Peer Advisors on our team!”

From Rachael Burnett: ” We’ve been able to serve many more students than in previous semesters. We were also able to cater our orientations to our students’ needs and use our cumulative knowledge to create orientations with more purpose and benefit. We had a larger turnout and the feedback was very positive. My favorite part about being a Team Leader is being able to take in my Peer Advisors’ feedback to create systems, events, and programming that works best for the team. I really enjoy making them a part of the process and showing them that their knowledge and experiences are valued.”
